Nothing will stop me from being a true Nigerian - Tiwa Savage

We’ve seen African artists sign international deals and lose their ‘Africanness’ just because they want to appeal to international audiences. Well, popular 36-year-old Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage is not about to be one of them.
Nothing will stop me from being a true Nigerian - Tiwa Savage 1
Tiwa Savage.
She was featured in a recent article in Vibe magazine and she explained why even though she has a management deal with an international record label(Roc Nation), she is still going to remain a true African and nothing is going to change.

“I’m still very pro-African and you can’t take that away from me,” she points out. “There’s nothing you can do to change that.” She said.
The mum of one also weighed in on the confusion regarding the Afrobeats genre. Explaining that Fela, remains the true founder of Afrobeats.
Nothing will stop me from being a true Nigerian - Tiwa Savage 2
“I don’t even know how it came about. I know Afrobeat is from Fela and the reason why I guess people wanted to start a new genre of Afropop was because a lot of the music we’re doing now is influenced by hip-hop, R&B and pop. You can’t really say it’s just Afrobeat, because Afrobeat has a sound. When you hear it, you now it’s Afrobeat. I think that’s where the argument is.”

The Game had sex with Kim Kardashian West, Khloé Kardashian and Blac Chyna

The Game claims he has had sex with Kim Kardashian West, Khloé Kardashian and their brother's fiancée Blac Chyna.
The Game had sex with Kim Kardashian West, Khloé Kardashian and Blac Chyna
The Game.
The 36-year-old rapper hit the headlines last month when he dropped his new controversial track 'Sauce', in which he bragged he'd "f***ed three Kardashians", and now he's finally revealed he's slept with the two famous siblings and their soon-to-be sister-in-law at some point in his career.

While appearing on 'The Wendy Williams Show' on Tuesday (09.20.16), the tough-talking host grilled him on the three girls in question as he sat slumped in his chair with a grin.

She asked:
"Did you do Khloé?

"I'm going to ask you again. Because no matter what you say I think you hit it at least once."

The 'Let's Ride' hitmaker - who was romantically linked with Khloe in 2014 - replied: "Yeah."

Wendy then asked him if he'd "got down" with Khloé's older sister Kourtney Kardashian - who has three children Mason, six, Penelope, four, and 21-month-old son Reign with her estranged partner Scott Disick - but he threw it out.

However, the star's silence said it all when Wendy pushed him on whether he'd got hot and heavy between the sheets with Kim - who he's previously dated - as he didn't want to be "disrespectful" towards her now-husband Kanye West, with whom she has North, three, and Saint, nine months.

As the room erupted with cheers, he said: "I'll tell you this, Kanye is a really good friend of mine and he's got really beautiful kids and I don't want to disrespect their family."

He also admitted to getting frisky with Chyna, who is currently expecting a baby girl with Kim and Khloé's brother Rob Kardashian, even though she's not yet a Kardashian.

He explained:
"It was three [Kardashians]. It gets a little tricky. Chyna ain't married yet. It's all good, you know what I'm saying... But she cool too."

Wendy then felt the need to clarify the situation and replied with: "So in conclusion Game has been romatical with Khloé, Chyna and Kim?"

He beamed:
"Yeah but in all chillness and love. In all love. Sometimes things happen and their uncontrollable. But I'm a good guy and those are good people, it's all love."

Game set tongues waggling a few weeks ago when he released his new single, in which he rapped:
"I used to f**k b***hes that Usher Raymond passed off / Then I f***ed three Kardashians - hold that thought."

He also referred to Kim, along with Paris Hilton, elsewhere in the track.

The line states:
"Bought my first Bentley and let Kim and Paris pick the colors."

Adeosun seeks interest rate reduction as MPC meets today

The minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to lower benchmark interest rates in order to lower debt servicing costs for the government, which plans to increase local borrowing to boost the economy.
Adeosun seeks interest rate reduction as MPC meets today
The minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun.

Adeosun disclosed this at a meeting of business leaders in Abuja yesterday.

The minister had last week announced the planned injection of N350 billion into the economy to pull it out of recession.

Speaking with CNBC Africa yesterday, the minister said she wanted the CBN to reconsider its decision at the July Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting which saw a hike in benchmark interest rate from 12 per cent to 14 per cent.

She also disclosed that the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Pension Commission had approved plans to enable the investment of as much as $20 billion of pension fund in the development of the country’s infrastructure.

She said,
“A new instrument that will allow pension funds to invest in infrastructure bonds; that’s what will drive, for example, our social housing and our roads programme outside the budget.”
The Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN commenced its meeting in Abuja yesterday and would hold a press briefing at the end of the meeting today, to announce its decisions.

Analysts are optimistic that the MPC would hold rates as a hike in rates would further put more pressure on the ailing economy and a cut will send negative signal to investors.

Adeosun said the Finance Ministry was working with the Debt Management Office, Nigeria’s sovereign wealth fund and the pension industry to issue an infrastructure bond to raise money for road and housing projects, although she did not elaborate.
“We need lower interest rates because when we are borrowing and interest rates go up, it increases our cost of debt service and it reduces the amount of money that is available to spend on capital projects.
“The attempt was to manage inflation and the trade-off for the economy right now is, what is a bigger problem: Is it growth or inflation? For me it is growth. I would rather seek growth. We can manage inflation. I think for us, at the moment in the Nigerian economy, growth is the most important thing,” Adeosun told CNBC.

Joke: Cat Competition

Joke: Cat Competition
Four men were bragging about how smart their cats are. The first man was an Engineer, the second man was an Accountant, the third man was a Chemist, the fourth was a Government Employee.

To show off, the Engineer called to his cat, "Tsquare, do your stuff." T-square pranced over to a desk, took out some paper and a pen and promptly drew a circle, a square, and a triangle. Everyone agreed that was pretty smart.

But the Accountant said his cat could do better. He called his cat and said, Spreadsheet, do your stuff." Spreadsheet went out into the kitchen and returned with a dozen cookies. He divided them into 4 equal piles of 3 cookies each. Everyone agreed that was good.

But the Chemist said his cat could do better. He called his cat and said, "Measure, do your stuff." Measure got up, walked over to the fridge, took out a quart of milk, got a 10 ounce glass from the cupboard and poured exactly 8 ounces without spilling a drop. Everyone agreed that was good.

Then the three men turned to the Government Employee and said, "What can your cat do?" The Government Worker called to his cat and said, "Coffee Break, do your stuff." Coffee Break jumped to his feet, ate the cookies, drank the milk, crapped on the paper, screwed the other three cats, claimed he injured his back while doing so, filed a grievance report for unsafe working conditions, put in for Workers Compensation and went home for the rest of the day on sick leave.

Osinbajo blames Niger Delta militants for recession

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has attributed the current economic recession to the activities of militants in the Niger Delta.
VP Yemi Osinbajo blames Niger Delta militants for recession
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

Osinbajo said there was no way Nigeria would not be affected given the fact that “the nation now loses over one million barrels of crude oil on a daily basis.”

The Vice-President said this on Monday at the maiden meeting of the Presidential Quarterly Business Forum with members of the organised private sector and other stakeholders at the State House Conference Centre, Aso Villa, Abuja.

The meeting is part of the Federal Government’s effort to continually engage regularly with different segments of the Nigerian public on its economic policies and direction.

Osinbajo said,
“Perhaps it is important for us to understand the nature of this recession in which we have found ourselves. In discussing this issue of recession, there is the tendency for people to generalise. A lot depends on what sort of recession and how we got here.”
“If we did not have vandalism in the Niger Delta as we are currently suffering, we will not have this recession today. Moreover, in looking at the solutions, we should try to focus on the type of problem we have and what instigated it then we can begin to come up with better solutions.”
Osinbajo, who is the head of the Economic Management Team, said the Federal Government was ready to address challenges in the power sector.

The members of the organised private sector, who were present, listed 13 challenges they were facing.

Top on the list are access to finance which  got 32ý per cent vote, access to foreign exchange (23 per cent), high interest rates – (18 per cent) and high energy cost (18 per cent).

Other challenges listed are: transport and infrastructural deficit (nine per cent), weak export support, inconsistent government policies, and absence of clear investment policies.

3 times Aisha Buhari has shown off her wealth

The Nigerian first lady, Aisha Buhari has shown that when it comes to her dressing she spares no expense. The first sign of this was about a year ago when, she wore a very expensive watch to the presidential inauguration ceremony.

Investigations by Breaking Times said that the wife of the Nigerian President appeared on the official portrait with a Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat white gold and diamond ladies watch that cost £34,500.

According to the CBN foreign exchange rate as at that time the wristwatch costs N10, 453, 000 (Ten Million, Four Hundred and Fifty Three Thousand Naira).

Below are some of the times, she showed that she could clearly afford the best of the best, recession or not:

Nigerians cried out with many claiming the watch cost more than N10 million. The outrage that ensued was mainly because their were earlier indications that the Buharis were a modest family. Especially after the President said he was a pastoral farmer with 150 cows, and that he had barely raised the money to pay for his presidential nomination form.

So a £34,500 Cartier watch was the last thing Nigerians were expecting, even at the exchange rate of N303 to £1 in 2015.

When the first lady visited the US, the Nigerian social media was agog with news, first about her way of dressing which many Muslims decried as disgraceful.

Then, when Mrs. Buhari was spotted carrying a Hermes Birkin 35cm Porosus Crocodile Gold Hardware Bag worth $105, 000 (N40, 950,000) at the then, $1 to N390 current conversion rate, the outcry was much louder.

According to Signal, the exact pink version of Aisha Buhari’s Hermes handbag was auctioned in 2015 for $222,912 (N86, 935, 680) at a Christie’s auction in Hong Kong.

And once again Nigerians have cried out. The first lady however seems unperturbed, time and again she has shown that she is not one to shrink back at the sight of luxuries.

Army wants ATMs for soldiers in Borno

The Nigerian Army on Sunday called on commercial banks to deploy Automated Teller Machines in the military barracks in Maiduguri for the use of front line soldiers involved in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in Borno.
Army wants ATMs for soldiers in Borno
The General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brig. Gen. Victor Ezugwu, made the call while speaking at a Civil-Military Forum organised by the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri.

Ezugwu was reacting to criticism by residents that soldiers often refused to join queues at the ATM points in the town.

He said that the army had written several letters to the banks for the deployment of ATM machines in the barracks without much success.

“We have been battling with the issue of lack of ATM in the barracks for the use of soldiers in the front line zone.

“I wrote letters to the banks over seven months ago for them to deploy the ATM in the Maimalari Cantonment for soldiers use, but there is no response yet,” he said.

Ezugwu said that the military was concerned about the development and urged the residents to intervene.

“I want to urge everybody here, especially traditional rulers, to help put pressure on the banks so that they can give us ATM at the barracks and allow you to use the ones in town.

“We are aware of the fact that everybody needs the ATM at one point or another,” he said.

“A soldier carrying 12 ATM cards at a time must have brought his colleagues’ cards from the frontline to take money and send to their families all over Nigeria.

“We have areas where there is no network, it is only through the ATM that the soldiers can send money home to their families’ he said.

Ezugwu appealed for more understanding from the residents pending when the ATM would be provided by the banks at the barracks.

Juan Zuniga scored 53 seconds after coming on and Troy Deeney netted a stoppage-time penalty as Watford beat Manchester United 3-1 on Sunday, condemning Jose Mourinho's men to a third consecutive defeat.

A dramatic opening period saw Odion Ighalo miss an open goal for Walter Mazzarri's side, before Paul Pogba struck the crossbar from long-range for the visitors in the Premier League clash at Vicarage Road.

Etienne Capoue then put Watford ahead with his fourth goal of the season, but Marcus Rashford – handed his first Premier League start of the campaign – equalised after the break.

However, that would not prevent United from following up defeats to Manchester City and Feyenoord with another loss, Zuniga capping a great team move just moments after coming on and Deeney putting the icing on the cake from the spot.

United's latest reverse leaves them six points adrift of the early Premier League leaders, Pep Guardiola's City, and puts Mourinho under immediate pressure to turn their results around.

Watford, meanwhile, now have two consecutive victories, setting Mazzarri up superbly for a favourable run of fixtures in the weeks ahead.

The Nigerian Army said it had recovered 55 assorted weapons from suspected criminals in the Niger Delta.

Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Buratai.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division, Enugu, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahitu, told newsmen in Enugu on Saturday that the recoveries were made during a military exercise tagged “Operation Crocodile Smile”.

He also disclosed that 23 militants and criminals were killed by soldiers in their bid to flush out criminals in the area.

The GOC said many of the criminals fled with various degrees of injury.

He said 38 camps belonging to the militants and 91 illegal refineries, including bunkering sites and underground tunnels used by the suspects, were destroyed in the 10-day exercise.

“The precursor operations were followed by `Exercise Crocodile Smile’ proper, which was orchestrated and conducted with sequencing and lines of operation to upgrade the skills, expertise and competence of the troops in land and riverside environments.

“Over 3,000 soldiers were deployed along two axis on land, creeks and the general littoral area of the Niger Delta region, while forward-operating bases were established from where operations were conducted along the creeks and littoral area,’’ he said.

Attahiru, however, regretted that four soldiers died during the exercise, explaining that three lost their lives in a boat mishap while one died during cross fire with the militants.

He said the exercise was also used to cement relations with civilians through humanitarian services in neighbouring communities.

“Books, stationeries and generators were donated to some schools while others were given facelift and infrastructure improvement.
